Do I need to sign a waiver if I am plunging or running under the age of 18?
Yes! Before you can participate in the festivities, you’ll need to sign a waiver. Waivers to be provided onsite.
What are the official 5K routes?
We have 5K runs/walks in Tri-Cities (route HERE), Seattle (route HERE) and Tacoma (route HERE). Reminder, these races are untimed and for fun!
Where can I find fundraising resources?
Need flyers, logos, or other messaging to help create your own fundraising material? Don’t know where to start? Check out our toolkits and resources page.
Is there a fundraising minimum?
Yes. Each participant is asked to meet a fundraising minimum to take part in the Plunge. Run-only participants pay a flat registration fee, while Plungers and Super Plungers commit to a fundraising minimum that directly supports Special Olympics Washington athletes.
I registered as an individual, but now I want to join a team. What do I do?
Teams make it more fun! Email us at plunge@
sowa. org, and we’ll help you make the switch. I registered to participate but changed my mind. Can I get a refund?
We’re sorry you can’t join us! Please note that registration fees and donations are non-refundable, but your contribution will still have a meaningful impact.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Absolutely! Donations are tax-deductible, though registration fees are not. Special Olympics Washington is a 501(c)3 organization, so give with confidence!
I forgot my password!
No worries! We’ve got your back. Just email plunge@
sowa. org, and we’ll help you get back on track. How do I turn in cash or checks?
You can mail any donations to Special Olympics Washington – Polar Plunge 2815 2nd Ave #370 Seattle, WA 98121. Don’t forget to add your name so we know who to credit it to.
Can I do both the 5K and the Plunge?
Yes! Many participants choose to run, plunge, or take on both challenges. It’s the best way to experience the full day of Polar Plunge excitement.
Can I just do the Polar Plunge 5K?
Yes! You can choose to only participate in the 5K Run & Walk if you’d prefer not to take the plunge.
What is the Seattle Super Plunge?
The Seattle Super Plunge is an extreme version of the Polar Plunge where participants take the icy plunge once every hour for 24 hours straight. It’s designed for our most dedicated fundraisers and thrill-seekers, raising critical funds for Special Olympics Washington while showcasing their commitment in a big way.
What is the Polar Plunge 5K Run & Walk?
The Polar Plunge 5K is a family-friendly run/walk that kicks off the day’s festivities. Whether you’re racing for time or strolling with friends, it’s a fun way to support Special Olympics Washington before cheering on (or joining) the Plunge.
